Attendance

At Learning Without Limits, the school expects students to come to school on time, every day. More time in class means more time for learning, thereby preparing all students to access and excel in the college and career of their choice. Every minute of a child’s time at school is important. Students who are absent for even one day, or who arrive late to school, miss valuable learning time and can easily fall behind in school.

While there are legitimate reasons to miss school such as illness and bereavement, students should be in school at all times so they can meet their full academic potential while attending Learning Without Limits. Chronic absenteeism has been linked to an increased likelihood of poor academic performance, disengagement from school, and behavior problems. Parents/guardians are responsible for sending students to school everyday and planning vacation trips and absences for personal reasons during school breaks so that the learning is not disrupted.

Daily attendance is taken electronically every school day. If a student is not in class, the student is marked absent and the parent/guardian is called.

Students who demonstrate perfect attendance or significant attendance growth will be recognized during CLAP assemblies and community celebrations throughout the school year!

Reporting & Clearing Absences

If your child will be absent, please call/visit the Main Office or send a signed note with your child’s name, the reason for the absence, and the dates the child missed school.

Absences must be cleared within 3 days or they will remain unexcused.

A doctor’s note is required when a student is absent for 3 consecutive days. If a doctor’s note is given to the school retroactively, the note must be submitted within 3 days of the first absence.

If your child is absent due to illness more than 6 times in a year, a doctor’s note is required for future absences to be excused.

Students may be involuntarily disenrolled after 10 consecutive absences without a response from the parent/guardian.
